Before joining Olson & Good, Brown was a managing attorney for Buist, Byars & Taylor, LLC, and owned his own firm in Mount Pleasant, S.C. He also worked as an attorney for Justin O'Toole Lucey, P.A., and clerked for the Hon. Irvin G. Condon in the Charleston Probate Court.
Raised in Mount Pleasant, Brown holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Clemson University and a law degree from the University of South Carolina. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of South Carolina, the Federal District Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Brown is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, the Charleston County Bar Association and the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association. He lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife, Tricia, and their two children.
During his career, Jay has litigated, among other things, a national product distribution case involving an international motorcycle manufacturer. This allowed Jay to depose motorcycle dealers across the nation. Jay has also managed complex financial litigation involving the telecommunications industry. This class action suit included complicated issues such as the usurping of accounts by employees of a parent entity. Jay has vast construction litigation experience, including an understanding of all building trades and products. Finally, Jay is a competent employment attorney, having litigated everyday matters, as well as a complex national case which involved commission structure disputes within national real estate companies.
